What shoes have I tested up to 2 and a half years.
According to the American Medical Association of Podiatrists, the child should be wearing shoes that are as flexible and soft as possible, that do not constrain the movements, leave the muscles free and strengthen them through exercise. Especially in the first steps, it is vital to avoid stiff and high shoes, because they greatly limit the child's movements, making it more difficult for him to find his balance.
Barefoot shoes are the best fit for the first steps and can be the main option for parents when it comes to children's shoes for a longer period of time. Barefoot shoes allow the natural development of the ankles and foot muscles, thus avoiding possible deformities and loss of mobility.
The most important things to keep in mind when choosing shoes for your little one:
flexible sole - allows the foot to bend enough to give the child the impression that he is barefoot. In this way he practices walking as naturally as possible.
non-slip sole - helps the little one not to slip and not to fall.
the right size - the shoes should fit and not be too small.
made of a material that allows the skin to breathe - the most suitable materials are leather and mesh.
it should NOT be stiff and compressive - this can cause deformity, weakness and even loss of mobility.
